World Health Day
At Ridge Valley School to mark ‘World Health Day’ the students were familiarized with the importance of the day. The teacher had a discussion on “Why being healthy is important” keeping in mind the age group she was addressing.
Like every year, this year also there was a theme for World Health Day i.e, “BEAT DIABETES”. The students shared their knowledge about diabetes by giving examples from their families and friends who are suffering from the disease and the means of combatting it.
A presentation that gave details about the symptoms, types of diabetes, diet tips and changes that needs to be done in the lifestyle to beat the disease were shared with the students.
The newspaper article where PM Mr. Narendra Modi had addressed the nation to come together and fight the disease was read out. In the article there was a logo with symbols that showed activities people should follow and adopt for a healthy and diabetes-free life.
Furthermore, students of grades 6-9 made posters that reflected their understanding of the day. Through the posters they were able to create awareness about the disease and how it can be prevented. These posters were displayed on the foyer board the next day when grades 8 and 9 had a special assembly on “World Health Day”.
