Principles of Curriculum
The Learn today Curriculum focuses on the holistic development of children with keen emphasis on enhancing individual learner skills. Great emphasis is placed on a progressive, challenging and steady paced learning environment.
The Early Years Learn Today Curriculum is based on active learning. Through practical activities, purposeful play and talk, children develop an understanding of the world and the basic concepts which enable them to be learners for life.
Ridge Valley School offers a wide and varied experience of learning that has been tailored to the specific needs of children. Our model of teaching and learning has at its hub, the tenets of integration and differentiation. The Junior School curriculum follows the broad direction set by CBSE within the following key learning areas:
Understanding our World/Social Science
Visual and Performing Arts
At Ridge Valley School, we understand that students learn at a differing pace and possess varying levels of abilities in a range of areas. We believe that these differences are appreciated by delivering the curriculum within five areas of development;
Spiritual–connect with nature and self and inculcate essential values
Physical– physical activities, personal health and hygiene, confidence regarding one’s body and gender
Emotional – instil in children self-belief, self-worth and self-confidence
Cerebral – learn through hands-on experiences
Social – children are encouraged to interact with the community through outreach programmes – the students of Ridge Valley School have adopted a school in village Nathupur.
Ridge Valley School promotes learning through Multiple Intelligences which include the Verbal-Linguistic, Mathematical-Logical, Visual-Spatial, Kinaesthetic, Interpersonal, Intrapersonal, Naturalistic and Musical intelligences. The school also follows other instructional models like project-based learning, learning through problem-solving, integrated and collaborative learning.
