Maj Gen Kanwar Vijay Singh Lalotra, AVSM,YSM,SM (Retd), is an alumni of the prestigious Lawrence School, Sanawar. He was awarded the President of India Medal for being the best scholar.
Commissioned into the Army in December 1973, his long and illustrious Army career was a perfect blend of challenging command, important training, key staff and diplomatic assignments.
His efforts are acknowledged both by the Army and civil administration for his planning and setting up of State War Memorials at Jaipur and Nathula, the Army Heritage Museum at Shimla and the Manekshaw Convention Center at New Delhi.
A large part of his noteworthy contribution is in the field of education. While in the Army he established the Pine Wood School near the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir for children affected by strife. He carried out vast improvements in, Rashtriya Military Schools and Kendriya Vidyalayas across the country in his capacity as their Chairman.
Post superannuation he served as the 16th Principal at Mayo College, Ajmer where in a short time he brought about vast improvements in the pedagogy and school infrastructure.
At present he is an Honorary Advisor to the Rajput Education Trust, Jodhpur; Member Board of Governors, The Lawrence School, Sanawar; Maharani Gayatri Devi Girls School, Jaipur; Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls Public School, Jodhpur and Endeavour Global School, Siliguri.
This General Officer is a recipient of the Ati Vishist Seva Medal, Yudh Seva Medal and the Sena Medal, for distinguished service.
